FROM THE WEST COAST & SOUTH

Flying into Burlington:
For those looking to avoid renting a car, our selection of hotel accommodations in the Burlington area provide complimentary shuttles to and from the Burlington International Airport (BTV). Flights can be more limited than more major airports and will likely require additional stops.

Flying into Boston:
If you're looking for an alternative, Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) has also been the airport of choice for John's parents. Flying into Boston will increase the drive time but offers the greatest flexibility of direct flights and rental car options.

FROM THE NORTH EAST

Driving:
Refer to your preferred traffic app based on the weather and road conditions. Generally speaking, Interstate 87 is the fastest way to get north before switching to local roads like VT-7 for the final legs of the trip.

Flying:
Flying into Burlington may be a good option if you are limited on time or worried about the time required to drive north. We recommend checking multiple local airports for the best filght options and times.

Amtrak:
Amtrak's Ethan Allen Express offers daily service between New York, NY Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station (NYP) - Burlington, VT Union Station (BTN), with stops along the way (see map). Tickets should be reserved well in advance for the best pricing. This option takes slightly longer than driving but offers an exciting alternative and would allow for remote work while traveling.

Welcome to our Wedding

We are so excited to celebrate our marriage with everyone we love on August 17, 2024 in the beautiful state of Vermont! We hope our wedding will not only embody our love story, but also our love for the area and community, as we will be sourcing everything locally from catering to florals to refreshments. Catering will be provided by the delicious Flatbread Pizza Company, and a wide selection of local craft beer and wine will be present. Attire will be cocktail or semi-formal, and we highly recommend the ladies to either wear flats or chunky heels to avoid sinking in the grass. There will be an assortment of lawn games, and our dog, Chance, will be joining us for the festivities.

About Burlington, VT & D.A.R. State Park

Burlington has held a special place in our relationship. It's where we go to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, eat great food, drink good beer, breathe fresh air, spend time with family, and explore all the stunning nature Vermont has to offer. The incredible hiking of the Long Trail, the killer skiing at Sugarbush and Stowe, and the serene waters of Lake Champlain keep us coming back every year.

While the above locations are household names, there are some hidden gems in Vermont. We stumbled upon DAR on the way home Memorial Day Weekend this year and instantly fell in love with the views and the peacefulness of the park. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

There is a stone pavilion within the park. This will be the venue for the wedding and reception!

About the Invites

The idea to use vintage postcards as wedding invitations came from browsing a flea market in Hudson, NY with Megan's mom. These 1940's postcards were thrifted with the help of John's mom and Megan's future sister-in-law and were printed in Burlington, VT. They all depict the view of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains that can be seen from both Downtown Burlington and DAR State Park during different times of day: Sunrise, daytime, sunset, and nighttime. Due to the fragile nature of the postcards, the contents of the invitation were sublimated (heat transferred) with the help of Megan's dad. The illustrations of flora and fauna were hand drawn by the incredibly talented Emma Dannenberg. As a wildlife artist, she carefully selected plants and animals that could be found at DAR State Park.

If you'd like to explore more of her work, feel free to visit her Instagram page or website!
